Sirens: BB shot down on a playground, child hit; arrest for impaired driving; Stolen mail; egg vehicle

CHEHALI POLICE DEPARTMENT

DUI

• Brandon Cochran, 25, of Chehalis, was arrested on the 500 block of North Market Boulevard just before 12:50 p.m. on March 25 and was taken to the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.

Hit and run

• A hit and run was reported in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard just after 1:35 p.m. on March 25.

Crashes

• A vehicle accident without injury was reported at the intersection of East Main Street and South Market Boulevard just after 10:05 am on March 26.

• A two-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way at 2:15 p.m. on March 26.

Shooting Complaint

• At approximately 4:50 p.m., a caller in the 100 block of Southwest 13th Street reported that two men “drove by and started shooting at the playground with a BB gun.” The caller said his daughter was hit twice with the BB gun. No arrests were made.

• At 10:55 p.m. on March 25, a caller in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported that the back of his vehicle had been hit. No arrests were made.

Stolen mail

• At approximately 11:20 p.m. on March 25, a caller in the 100 block of Northeast Coal Creek Road reported seeing someone in a vehicle going through mailboxes.

• At approximately 10:20 a.m. on March 26, a caller from the 800 block of Southeast Evergreen Drive reported that mailboxes in the area had been opened the day before. Video footage reportedly showed someone in a truck stealing mail and throwing eggs at a door. No arrests were made.

Other flight

• A vehicle was reported stolen in the 2100 block of North National Avenue just before 12:05 p.m. on March 26.

• A third-degree robbery reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:50 p.m. on March 27 is being investigated.

• A third-degree robbery reported in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:05 p.m. on March 27 is being investigated.

• A vehicle theft reported in the 200 block of Southeast Prospect Street at 4:10 p.m. on March 27 is being investigated.

• A second degree robbery reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 7:20 p.m. on March 27 is being investigated.

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard just before 8 p.m. on March 27 is being investigated.

Intrusion

• A disorderly subject broke into a business on the 600 block of West Main Street just after 8.20pm on March 26.

• A subject was cited for trespassing in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:25 a.m. on March 27.

• A subject was arrested in the 500 block of Northwest Front Street just after 4:05 p.m. on March 27 and was taken to the Lewis County Jail for alleged trespassing.

• A vicious dog was reported in the 100 block of Southwest 16th Street at 9:15 a.m. on March 27.

Aggression

• A fourth-degree assault was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 10:35 a.m. on March 27.

CENTRAL POLICE DEPARTMENT

Aggression

• A Spokane man was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 4:45 p.m. on March 25 and was taken to Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault after he allegedly attempted to kick foot to an officer who had tried to arrest him for trespassing.

• Just before 5:40 p.m. on March 25, a man reported that a suspect driving a dark-colored SUV shot him with “what he thought was an AirSoft gun”. The victim had a “minor red mark” on his leg. No arrests were made.

• A Centralia man was cited for fourth-degree assault in the 1100 block of West Walnut Street just after 5:30 p.m. on March 27.

Flight

• A set of keys was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Lum Road at 5:50 p.m. on March 25.

• A Centralia woman has been cited for allegedly attempting to steal a bottle of whiskey from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 6.05pm on March 25.

• Just after 7:55 am on March 26, several vehicles in the 200 block of North Ash Street were reported to have been broken into overnight.

• Merchandise was stolen from a business in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 11:40 am on March 26.

• Just after 2:10 p.m. on March 26, a Chevrolet pickup truck was reported stolen from the 1200 block of Johnson Road overnight.

• A Winlock woman was cited for shoplifting in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 1:35 p.m. on March 27.

• A subject was cited for a third degree robbery in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 6:00 p.m. on March 27.

Escape the police

• A woman riding a black motorcycle allegedly escaped a police officer in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue at 6.40pm on March 25 after the officer tried to stop her for speeding. The suspect is said to have “accelerated downtown traffic to a high speed while bypassing other vehicles”. The officer did not pursue the suspect due to “the risk to the public in the busy downtown area and the current state prohibiting pursuit,” according to the police log.

Intrusion

• A Chehalis man was cited for trespassing at a business in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just before 9pm on March 25.

• A Centralia man was cited for trespassing the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 2:30 p.m. on March 27.

Malevolent Mischief

• A Centralia man was cited for third degree malicious mischief in the 2800 block of Russell Road just before 10.45am on March 27 after he was caught trying to saw through a catalytic converter from a vehicle.

• Graffiti was reported on a building in the 800 block of West Pear Street at 1:05 a.m. on March 28.

• A minor vehicle accident was reported in the 1800 block of Military Road just after 7:50 p.m. on March 27.

LEWIS COUNTY PRISON STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total population of 157 inmates, including 139 in the general population and 18 in the Work Ethics and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 108 were male and 31 were female. All WERC inmates were male.
