Several teenagers and one adult arrested following large fight at Boston playground – Boston 25 News

BOSTON — The Boston Police Department arrested several teenagers and an adult following a large fight at a playground Friday night.

Investigators tell Boston 25 News it happened during a football game at Carter Playground on Columbus Ave.

The match pitted Archbishop Williams High School against a co-op team made up of students from Cathedral High School, Matignon High School and Cristo Rey High School in Dorchester.

Hundreds of people witnessed the melee, which spilled onto the streets.

Boston police say a large group of youths formed at a nearby tennis court and a big fight broke out. After the group dispersed, officers found a 16-year-old boy lying on the ground. The teenager refused to cooperate with officers and fled the scene, according to police.

A large crowd formed and became increasingly aggressive with the officers, according to law enforcement officials. The police called for mutual aid to help calm the crowd.

A total of seven people were arrested following the scuffle, including:

  • A 15-year-old girl, charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
  • A 15-year-old girl, charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
  • A 15-year-old boy charged with assault and battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
  • A 16-year-old boy charged with a fight.
  • A 17-year-old young man charged with disorderly conduct.
  • A 17-year-old young man charged with disorderly conduct.
  • Chiquela Howard, 37, of Weymouth, MA, charged with disorderly conduct, assault and battery, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

The incident is still under investigation.
