Pupils at Ringwood Junior School do playground tricks

PUPILS at a school in Hampshire have raised more than £1,200 for those caught up in the war in Ukraine.

A group of 4th grade boys from Ringwood Junior School raised the money by doing hundreds of playground laps.

They came up with the idea of running a total of 1,325 miles – the distance between London and the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

Dressed in the blue and yellow Ukrainian colors, they ran along the playing field at each break.

Donations from other pupils and their families have so far raised over £1,200.

Principal Sally-Ann Evans said: “I’m so proud of the boys and all they’ve achieved.

“It’s always nice when kids show initiative and see through an idea that means so much to them and to the wider community. Cheers boys, you’ve inspired us all.”

The money will be donated to the Disaster Emergency Committee.
