Part water park and part amusement park, H2OBX in North Carolina is fun
Summer in the Tar Heel State just wouldn’t be the same without a few must-do experiences. Among them, a trip to the Outer Banks and at least one family visit to a fun water park in North Carolina. At H2OBX, a water park destination just outside of Kitty Hawk, you can do both!
For an exciting day of fun in the sun, H2OBX has unparalleled excitement in the OBX. The Outer Banks’ newest water park offers many of the attractions we’ve come to expect from a water park – and many more, too.
To get started, let’s look at Teach’s Tides Adventure River. Relax and meander with the current in this 300-meter lazy river named after North Carolina’s most famous pirate: Blackbeard (Edward Teach).
For the kids there is a perfectly sized adventure lagoon for a day of fun. Next up is the Cat-5 wave pool. You could get in the car and cross the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge to experience the ocean waves – but why? These will do just fine!
Did we mention you don’t even have to bring your own tube for the lazy river? Or that ALL H2OBX rides are included in one admission price?
It’s not like some water parks where you have to pay extra prices for certain rides.
Let’s talk about “rides” and why H2OBX is one of them water park and part amusement park. If you’ve ever been to Disney World in Florida and really enjoyed cooling off at Splash Mountain because it combined a thrill with the splash of cold water…

Well, let’s just say that at H2OBX you’ve come to the right place for lots of exciting water-themed attractions. There are family options like Queen Anne’s Revenge and Rogue Wave that stack everyone in the same huge tank so you can create amazing family memories together.
And then there are exciting individual challenges, like shredding waves on a surfboard on the Flowrider.
H2OBX features 30 water-themed rides like these. If you really want the thrill of a lifetime, you’ll be sure to check out Paradise Plunge (pictured). But it’s definitely not for the faint of heart.
You’ll start nine stories in the air standing in a box with the floor falling below you. Scream all you want as you plunge nine stories high into a pool of fresh water to cushion your fall.
With all of these choices for kiddie rides, family rides, and thrill rides, it’s easy to see why H2OBX has quickly become the most popular water park in the Outer Banks.
H2OBX offers multiple ticket pricing options that include options like one-day passes to one-week passes if you’re in town on vacation (these one-week passes are so affordable , especially if you plan to go two or three times), and season passes.
Whichever pass you choose, you’re sure to consider it worth the price of admission – it’s just plain fun. And don’t forget to also check out cabana rentals.
H2OBX is located approximately seven miles from Kitty Hawk.
