New adventure playground opens in York
A new adventure playground opened in York today (Wednesday).
York Stadium Leisure Complex opened the play park to provide visiting children with another activity to do.
Free to access and open during the day, all year round, the adventure park is suitable for children, from toddlers to teenagers.
The park has a host of features ranging from climbing apparatus, slides and walkways as well as all-weather and soft surfaces. It also has seats for parents and caregivers and lockable doors.
Also in the same area is an outdoor fitness area for leisure center guests. It can be adapted for a variety of purposes, including outdoor fitness classes, such as circuits, Buggy-a-cise and high-intensity training classes, as well as breakout areas in vacation clubs for children.
Cllr Darryl Smalley, Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Communities at York City Council, said: “Designed for up to 50 children to explore at once, this playground supports our commitment to play and exercise in the city’s open spaces.”
Cllr Nigel Ayre, Executive Member for Finance and Performance, said: “Our vision for the Community Stadium is truly an experience for the whole family. Giving kids an all-weather outdoor exercise space to enjoy those adjustments in style.
