Multiple arrests reported after Boston police broke up major playground fight Friday night – Boston News, Weather, Sports

BOSTON (WHDH) — Several people have been arrested after a massive fight at Carter’s Playground off Columbus Avenue was broken up by police.

A massive police response could be seen in the park near Northeastern University, with officers called as a football game was apparently winding down.

The fight is believed to have involved a large number of teenagers, although police are still working to confirm what led to the mass confrontation.

With Boston Police Headquarters a few blocks away off Tremont Street, a number of officers quickly arrived to break up the fight soon after it was reported.

According to the police department, several teenagers have been arrested and face disorderly conduct charges.

Officials could not confirm the exact number of arrests, or whether there were any injuries in the response, although a 7NEWS camera appeared to capture an officer being treated at the scene by an EMS team.

By 11 p.m. the crowd had completely dissipated, with a few people later spotted using the playground grounds.

It’s a developing story; stay with 7NEWS live and online for the latest updates.
