Houston’s newest amusement park turns into a water park with 11 rides

Attention kids, big kids, and anyone who likes a fun ride: Houston has a new amusement park. Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures, the splash destination, announced “Big Rivers Fairgrounds“, his new theme park hot spot.

These new fairgrounds will include 11 amusement park rides – from kiddie rides to thrill rides – which are expected to be installed over the next few weeks.

Most rides should be ready for the planned “Christmas at Big Rivers” event, which will run from Nov. 26 until the end of Christmas, the park notes.

Some highlights of The Fairgrounds, according to press materials, include:

  • Rolling Thunder – a spinning roller coaster
  • SPINdletop – a pendulum that rotates cyclists 360 degrees
  • Lafitte’s Fury – a rocking pirate ship
  • Screaming Eagles – a family attraction where the pilot controls the flight path
  • Seven other rides, from kiddie rides to thrill rides

Notably, The Fairgrounds will not replace Grand Texas, the planned large-scale amusement park that will span some 140 acres. “The fairground rides will be great fun for all ages, but the Greater Texas themed attractions are still coming soon,” Monty Galland, founder of Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures, said in a statement.

Those interested in admission can gain access with the purchase of the Big Rivers Water Park 2022 Season Pass, available online.

As CultureMap previously reported, Big Rivers (23101 TX 242 in New Caney) features an expansive water park with slides, lazy river, and wave pool; as well as an adventure park that includes zip lines, a four-story challenge course, the tallest outdoor climbing wall in Texas, Wild Isle, an obstacle course on a spring-fed lake, a zoo for kids, an alligator habitat, giant maze, ax throwing, archery, and more.
