Gardai has closed a playground in Tallaght after a man was found unconscious with serious head injuries

An investigation has been launched after a man was found unconscious with serious head injuries in a Dublin playground overnight.

Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene at Mac Uilliam Estate in Tallaght around 11.40pm on Saturday.

The man, in his 40s, was taken to Tallaght Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital. He appears to be in serious condition.

Gardai cordoned off the playing field for a forensic examination.

No arrests have yet been made and investigations are ongoing.

Gardai is appealing to witnesses or anyone who was near the playing field at that time to contact them.

A spokesperson said: “Gardai is appealing for witnesses following a serious incident of assault in Tallaght on Saturday 14th May 2022.

“Gardai is appealing for witnesses, particularly those near the Mac Uilliam estate playing field late last night, to come forward. They also appeal to those who have video footage (including dash cams) to make it available to them.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station 01-666 6000 or Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.”
