A ‘brave’ father of friends was killed while protecting his son at the playground in Everett
Family friends have identified the 45-year-old father who was fatally stabbed while protecting his son at an Everett playground as Mark Luiso, WCVB Reports.
Louis was stabbed after fighting near the Walter Morris playground on Cherry Street at around 10:22 p.m. on Monday August 8, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office reports. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“He was lying in the driveway there. I could see him from my window,” a witness told WCVB. “There was a girl screaming in the street.”
Neighbors also described hearing a motorbike around the same time as the incident and paramedics trying to help Luiso before taking him to hospital.
“He’s brave,” said Luiso’s friend Liz Stoddard WBZ“He came down protecting his son and he’s a hero in my book.”
A bloody knife was recovered from the bonnet of a car that was parked along the road on the day of the nest, according to the two media outlets. So far, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
“Mark was a loving father to 3 beautiful boys, including a child with autism, a loving husband and a friend to all who knew him,” said a GoFundMe hosted by Stoddard reads. “He has lived his whole life to provide for his family and leaves a void that cannot be filled.”
The aim of the campaign is to support Luiso’s family in times of need. The campaign had raised more than $2,100 of its $25,000 goal on Wednesday. People can donate by clicking here.
